2. Vün Drinne Noh Drüsse (1982)
Original album includes Wie 'ne Stein (Like A Rolling Stone), the Bonus-CD adds a 1983 live version of Su'ne Morje (One Too Many Mornings), previously available on the band's 1983 live album Bess Demnähx.
info at bap.de • Available from: amazon.de

No Dylan-content on the original album, the bonus CD includes the 1986 live-version of Like A Rolling Stone from the 1986 various artist LP WAAhnsinn (with Wolfgang Ambros, Anne Haigis & Kevin Coyne; sung in Austrian/Kölsch/English) and a previously unreleased 1988 live version of Vatter (influenced by Father of Night.)

New in the DylanCover.com collection: Peter Pan Pop Singers

The Mighty Quinn
Peter Pan Pop Singers and Orchestra
The Unicorn
LP: Peter Pan Records 8068; 1968? (US)

Maybe buying this children's music LP is a sign that my collecting has gone too far... but in my defense it was only 1¢ on eBay, for a well-worn copy. Fortunately the Mighty Quinn band was not too bad, apparently not a favorite of the previous owner. You would expect songs on a kid's music album to be upbeat, but this rendition by a mixed male and female chorus is surprisingly lackluster. The "orchestra" is comprised of an organ, sax, and percussion. A product of S.P.C. Inc., Newark, New Jersey USA, no date on cover or label, but I'd guess 1968 when the Irish Rovers had their hit with The Unicorn (perhaps the LP number 8068 is also a hint.)

The Very Best of Jerry Garcia

The recently released The Very Best of Jerry Garcia compilation contains 3 Dylan songs, as far as I know all previously available. Included is the studio version of Knockin' On Heaven's Door, and live versions of Positively 4th Street (1975) and Señor (1990). Available from: amazon.com

New in the DylanCover.com collection: Blue Merle

Buckets Of Rain
Blue Merle
The Fires EP
CD-EP: Island 0 75021 01828 0; 2004 (US)

This Limited Edition (of 3,000) 6-track EP was released a few months before the debut album of the Nashville band Blue Merle. They're unusual for an alt-rock band in that they play mostly acoustic, their usual setup includes acoustic guitar, mandolin, fiddle, an upright bass & drums. Their 4:26 studio version of Buckets Of Rain is exclusive to this EP. Found my copy (#2593) on eBay for 99¢ !
Just for fun: If you have a copy of this EP, use the "comment" link at the end of this post and log in the serial number of your copy & your location.

Dylan Title Tracks: 4 additions

After a long drought, some new additions to Dylan Title Tracks:

Three EPs with both Blowin' In The Wind and Don't Think Twice have been added to both song's pages of Dylan Title Tracks, including 1965 Australian and New Zealand Trini Lopez EPs and a 1964 French EP by The Harry Simeone Chorale.

Also added is the 2005 CD-EP Like A Rolling Stone by Sonicwerks.

Technically, the NZ EP Trini Sings Peter Paul & Mary Hits doesn't qualify for Title Tracks since the song titles do not appear on the sleeve front, but I have included it for sake of completeness. It does however qualify for Dylan Covers on Non-Dylan Tributes and has been added there.

There are now 1,189 sleeves & albums displayed in
Dylan Title Tracks.

Thanks to H.P. Bushoff for the Trini Lopez scans & info.

Alan Lorber reissued... questions remain

Available for purchase on several download sites (including eMusic) is Bob Dylan: Times They Are A-Changin' by the Alan Lorber Orchestra. Apparently the 6 Dylan songs included here are from the 1966 Lorber-produced Metropolitan Pops Orchestra album, note the artwork uses a variation of the same Peter Max design. Notation on this new release reads "Recorded May, 1966. Abbey Road Studios, London, with members & soloists of The London Symphony & Ted Heath Band." Added are Dylan Overture and the traditional Man Of Constant Sorrow. I haven't heard the tracks yet, so I don't know what Dylan Overture is, possibly a medley?
Tracks from the MPO that are not included are It Ain't Me Babe, She Belongs To Me, Positively 4th Street, and Mr. Tambourine Man.
This release does not answer the questions on my Mysteries page. For example, was this album ever released on the MGM label under Lorber's name?
More info at the Iris Music Groups album webpage
Also released by Iris Music Group is a 6-track collection of Lorber's Peter Paul & Mary covers, but Blowin' In The Wind is not included, but Man Of Constant Sorrow is repeated! That release also uses a variation of the artwork from the Metropolitan Pops Orchestra's PP&M LP.
Some retailers (such as Amazon.com) are listing this as a CD release, but I have found no evidence to support that. For now I have added it to the Download Albums page. If it does surface as a CD release, it will be transferred to the Instrumentals page.
The tracklist:
Dylan Overture (Dylan content unknown)
It's All Over Now, Baby Blue
Don't Think Twice
One Too Many Mornings
All I Really Wanna Do
Like A Rolling Stone
Man Of Constant Sorrow
The Times They Are A Changin'

New page: Dylan Cover Albums Directory

I have added a Directory page to Dylan Cover Albums, listing all the albums & other items on the major pages of that site (Vocals, Translations, Instrumentals, E.P.s, Various Artists, Shared, Near Misses.)
The list is presented with thumbnail images of all the albums, listed in alphabetical order by artist, with compilations at the end of the list sorted as they appear on the Various Artists pages. Filter links at the top of the Directory page display each category separately. Also included are links to the minor pages of the site. The Directory replaces the former "Album List" page.

To access the Dylan Cover Albums Directory, use the new link on the main page of Dylan Cover Albums.

New in the DylanCover.com collection: Lost Dogs

Lord Protect My Child
Lost Dogs
Scenic Routes
CD/Cassette: Brainstorm/Word; 1992 (US)

CDs of Lost Dogs' out-of-print Scenic Routes, their 1992 debut album, are advertised for some lofty prices, but I found a sealed cassette for only a few dollars. The band combines alt-country, gospel & Christian styles, all clearly evident on Lord Protect My Child. Ten years later, they reprised the song on the limited-edition album "Green Room Serenade Part Tour." The band has released several albums since.

New pages provide direct links to covers

I have added two new pages to DylanCover.com, replacing several older pages. On both new pages, clicking any linked song title opens a list of covers of the song selected, derived from the Dylan Covers DataBase. The lists open in new windows, so bypass any pop-up blockers if necessary.
Alphabetical Song List: a list of all Dylan songs, arranged A-Z. The page features illustrations of many Dylan non-album songs, and replaces the previous series of A-Z Song List pages.
By Dylan Album Song List: a list of Dylan songs arranged by Dylan album date of release (not date of recording.) This page replaces the previous series of "Bob's Originals" pages. The list is illustrated and includes all Dylan albums and major compilations.
Any existing links to any of the old Song List or Bob's Original pages should automatically redirect to the 2 new pages, respectively.
Any reports of bad or broken links would be appreciated. I'm not perfect :)

New in the DylanCover.com collection: Kevin Max

When He Returns
Kevin Max
The Imposter
CD: Northern Records NRCD005; 2005 (US)

Kevin Max was a member of the successful Christian music group dc Talk. His cover of When He Returns is accompanied by just a solo piano, but much of The Imposter, his 5th solo album, has more of an alt-rock sound.
